Al-Fatiha is the first surah (chapter) of the Quran123.
It consists of 7 ayah (verses) which are a prayer for guidance
and mercy1. Al-Fatiha is recited in Muslim obligatory and voluntary
prayers, known as salah1. It was revealed in Makkah and is said to be
the first complete Surah to be revealed at once and also one of the
earliest revelations2.
